Rail of War Walkthrough
Before the widespread use of transport aircraft, trains were one of the primary means of transportation for military forces. Many armed forces around the world still use trains for supply and personnel transportation. Rail of War is a Flash game that puts you in command of an armored train of your own. This train game features outstanding graphics, an all-mouse control scheme, and a variety of trains to get your supplies to the troops. This version of Rail of War does not contain all of the trains or levels that are available in the full version, but it offers enough to keep most players entertained.
The objective of Rail of War is to safely move your cargo to the designated areas. Along the way, you will face enemy vehicles, emplacements, and aircraft that are trying to stop you. You must choose your path carefully to avoid confrontation and take the fight to the enemy when necessary. You can take the more dangerous path in this train game for greater rewards, but it is advisable to avoid trouble, especially if your train is not well-armed! Consult the minimap to choose your path. I advise choosing the path with the most train stations since you can repair and refuel at stations. You can save your progress at the end of each mission, s the game does not have to be completed in one sitting.
Rail of War is controlled exclusively by the mouse. Detailed instructions are provided in the game to get you started. Click on the appropriate buttons to control the speed of your train and to attach wagons. The mouse is also used to aim and to shoot cannons. When a small orange crosshair is visible, click your mouse to shoot in its direction. Unfortunately, it seems that some of the turrets are bugged in this train game since they do not all aim in the proper direction.
Not only must you deal with the rigors of manning defensive turrets in Rail of War, but you must also manage your funds and tonnage. Locomotives have a weight limit which determines how many wagons and weapons they can carry. You may have enough money to purchase the weapon that you desire, but if it puts you over the weight limit, you won't be able to attach it to your train. Taking on heavy wagons also reduces your speed and increases fuel consumption. Extra firepower may be handy, but there are some situations where speed is the key to survival. Be sure to detach wagons if you need to make a quick getaway!
Rail of War is a fun train game that will appeal to fans of shooting games. This version of Rail of War provides a great taste of the gameplay that the full version has to offer. If you are willing to fork over $9.95 for extra trains, weapons, and levels, then you may want to do so, but this free version is entertaining enough for most casual gamers!
