The objective on each level of The Polar Express: Train Adventure is to connect all of the train cars to your locomotive and complete the level by exiting through the tunnel. If your train crashes, you will lose one life. When all lives are lost, the game will end.

The Polar Express: Train Adventure features a mouse-only control scheme. You do not control the train directly in this train game; it will automatically follow the tracks. Instead, you can change the course of the track by clicking switches. The train will follow the green path on each switch. You can also control the speed of the train by clicking the lever to the left. I advise new players to keep the slow speed setting on. The right lever is the brake lever. Clicking this lever will bring the train's speed to a crawl at the cost of five hundred points, so use it sparingly.
